The engineering task

Assess the main fan and air-heating arrangement for Jerooy's underground mine ventilation system, accounting for high-altitude conditions and changes in the ventilation network as mining advances.

Our work

  • Selected main fan duty points against the aerodynamic characteristic of the mine ventilation network for two mine development periods, with a maximum design airflow of 330.3 m³/s.
  • Compared main ventilation equipment, duty and standby fan units, variable-frequency control, and supervisory monitoring.
  • Evaluated nine plant options involving coal- and diesel-fired air-heating systems and heating circuits using liquid or steam as the heat-transfer medium.
  • Coordinated the process solutions with buildings, structures, utilities, power supply, and process automation.
  • Assessed capital expenditure and fuel, electricity, maintenance, and repair costs over the design operating period.

Completed result

Alliance Altyn gave the completed feasibility study a favorable assessment and issued a recommendation letter dated June 8, 2026. The study provides a basis for equipment selection and the next design stage.
